AARANYA KAANDAM - My Review

An out of the box, first of its kind in tamil cinema I should say, that kept me guessing initially whether am I watching a tamil flim :P  A gangster flick in tamil sans songs sans even an item number,  was depicted brilliantly by the debutant director Thiagarajan Kumaraja sketching out the sheer realistic raw life of thugs in urban.  Movie’s plot had strong elements of western influence which was hitting you pretty straight. I reckon the best aspect behind this flick being the right kinda narrative style adopted by the director, which was so apt for the script’s in depth harshness. Movie kicks off erotically wherein aged gang leader Jackie sheriff who plays as SingaPerumal sexually harasses his wife-like Yasmin, whom he had garbbed up somewhere ditching her for a cine acting chance.

Then the film gets heated on with the clash of words over a drug deal between Jackie sheriff and Sambath who has been roped in as Pasupathy,  leading to a tensed up rift with in the gang. Getting to know that Singaperumal wants to get rid off him, pasupathy tries to evade, but he was spotted on by both Jackies’ & drug deal’s other sider – Gajandran’s gang, whose character was pictured pretty rough and raw amidst mobleaders. Infact there is specific scene where Pasupathy tries to explain thug Gaja with a interesting little story, revealing out director's heavy influence over hollywood director Guy ritchie. The point at which Pasupathy gets to know about Preumal’s order to his fellow mobbers to kill him, was absolutely spot on with the perfect twist. Scenario further worsens Pasupathy’s existence with his wife being kidnapped and him being targeted from both the ends.

Later the drug was caught up by a poor old drunkard and his little kid kodukkapuli who was portrayed so clever and quick witted, played by master vasanth. The scene in which the kid and dad consoles themselves outta their cock’s loss was heart touching and the movie really had the senti touch. Perumal later gets hold of  little kid’s father  for the drugs, torturing him for hours. Specifically director uses a reddish frame-tone over these scenes giving us a horrific mood while throwing light on the character’s vigor. Storyline moves about with how Pasupathy unties all his knots of problems and gets his wife & kid’s father back. In the midst of all these narrator creepingly pierces the storyline at times with romantic interludes between Ravi Krishna and Yasmin, which could  have been rendered without slowing down the pace of the plot. But alas a package of sheer bloody violence and a surprise element awaits in the story’s kitty.

Kudos to the director for a gripping screenplay & aptly crafted dialogues, which was splashed out with typical gangster’s erotic and obscene slang every now and then. Director was really bold enough to attend such a plot and portray in tamil cine scenario for a debut. Editors and the background scorer Yuvan has to be given the due credit for mixing up the dramatic rough violence of ultra slow motion camera frames with splendid strings, which did beautifully embossed the cinematographer’s captures added up with splashing bloodshed all around via efx, giving us a visual treat of raw realistic thug stunts. By the way the movie is strictly for adults & a must watch for guys who aren’t dark film haters!
I’ll give a 4 outta 5 for this one, without a doubt.

Check out Yuvan's classy score taking you through the movie amazingly --

Ravanan - My Review

“kattu sirrukkiiii…. Kattu sirrukkiiii… yaar kaattu sirrukkiii oiii……..
Malai kodupalooo… idi idipalooo mayamai povalooo…”

Unlike the usual peppy tone out on cd’s.. a pretty pretty slow folkish distinct voice of a older village women backup’s the frames… (imagine a slow-reverse version of kattu sirruki in ur minds..)
Its veera with lusty love, completely struck by the beauty of Raagini as clear as a stream line flow, still continues to awe at her splendor amidst those greeny woods and falling waters. His fierce eyes meets up with the most gorgeous pair of eyes that he had ever seen! The eyes that spoke thousand words!
This is called Poetry on screens! Its my best sequence out of this flick, stands at the top niche I should say as there are many scenes that I loved.
Mannn!! This one scene is enough to portray the inevitable love that Veera got struck the moment he saw her heavenly eyes!

The movie really stands out for the names that it embosses for – Mr. Maniratnam. An aching story of love, pain and anger poetically depicted with finest cinematic elements, touching the sensitive sides of mankind. Director’s brilliance is revealed in every frame. I just admire this man who has been creating magic in the screens with his classic scripts, presenting in a contemporary technique for over two decades, making his movies do the talking every time.
Narration starts with Raagini’s kidnap wife of the cop prithivi who is deadly in need of Veera, the notorious Veerappan-kinda character. Here lies the movie’s plot as the protagonist fells for Raagini, feeling the magic in her acquaintance. Second half takes you through some real hefty moments, revealing more of the story’s substance. In particular, the sister-flashback, bridge-sequence, climax and the hero’s avenging scene over the cop troops along side with yet another not-on-cd track were too dramatic.
Moving on to acting, I’d say Vikram had lived the character Veeraiya. Great acting exhibited stealing the show overall. The slang and body language were so perfect infact I would never be surprised if he bags another nat award for this. His characterization takes a bit of psychotic –path wherein he listens to several voices inside his head, uttering rhyming words at times. I really enjoyed the way Vikram used to say – “BUCK BUCK BUCK… DUM DUM DUM… DAN DAN DAN…”
I do need to mention aish looked gorgeous in screens. Her eyes were too good to admire all day, chaps. Nice expressive dance in kalvare song and a gripping acting performance as a fearless women trying to get outta shutters. Yester year lover boy Karthik plays a notable funny cameo equivalent to Ramayan’s hanuman.
Santosh Sivan/Manikandan have done a fabulous job capturing the exotic locations to the fullest of its glossyness. Visuals were a treat to our eyes bringing out the substance in classic style. Last, not the least though, I loved Rahman’s stunning spell casted all through the movie. Bgm’s were amazing and enthralling, still ringing in my mind. I felt the typical Rahmantic serenity which I’d love to experience any day! Feel was too good for the song like usuray poguthay and kodu potta in theater dts, also the veera theme that crosses out every now and then is damn heroic!
Raavanan - a classic treat for lovers of movies with poetic art content and finesse finish!

When its all about to end, its Veera's final few seconds on earth... frame slowly captures you the falling-Veera from the top shot all over his body... and there goes the heart touch touching song from the voice of AR! chk it out!

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya – My Review

“Ulagathula evalavo ponnunga irundhum.. na en jessie ‘a love pannen…!!!”

The last word that I uttered in theatre, as the frame moved up from simbu to the poster of the movie JESSIE, where the credit dissolved out into Gautham from Karthick, was – “BEAUTIFUL” . Guys..believe it or not.. this word wasn’t something that was predetermined in my mind to deliver rather that was something spontaneous that came out directly from my heart!

Let me admit, truly I felt like I was turning through the pages of a beautiful romantic Indian-novel revealing an aching & intense love . This typical Gautham Vasudev menon’s product is all about ‘Love’. The agony that would cross any young mind when its trapped on the clutches of love was amazingly delivered through gautham’s straight-from-heart script. The dubious fate of a young man’s love forms the crust of the story. You can witness all your toughest days in life fighting out for your love portrayed together with unexpected dose of humour all through the first half. Considering these tough times to tackle I even wondered ‘Why the heck to fell in love & suffer like a fucken stray dog!’. Soulful Music of Rahman hypnotized me all through, though I gathered my senses within seconds to go with the movie’s flow every now and then.

Karthik , a mechanical engineering grad, is all passionate about cinema with the dream of becoming a film maker, fells for Jessie, a charming software professional the moment he saw her. I believe Gautham loves the thunderbolt effect that struck Michael on the sight of Appollonia in THE GODFATHER. Exactly the same way karthik gets struck instantaneously as he himself narrates, “enna adichuthu antha kathal…”. Crazy love drives karthik mad, running behind Jessie all through, consequeltly framing out the times of crests and troughs in his pathetic love. Karthik traverses his pages all the way with his friendly mentor ganesh’s support, Jessie’s brother Jerry’s arrogance , her father’s adamancy and finally, a strange amoebatic-jessie. To be more simple Jessie was pictured cute & confused. A sexy stylish girl with loads of immaturity behind her, which complicates Karthik’s love even more.

Adding to the elegance of the gautham’s script and the spirit of Rahman’s touch, comes out the refreshingly ravishing visuals of Manoj Paramahansa. I was thoroughly impressed with this man already in the movie ‘eeram’. Catering to my eager expectations his camera has produced some stunning frames for his Stylish counterpart.

Alas! Just when you were high on your emotional drama and about to predict the happy ending, the director taps your back and says ‘its not a fairy tale dude..rather.. REALITY’, taking you through the line that divides reel and real. Frankly, I was dumbstruck! Gautham was unique and exceptional in the way he brought out the realistic essence in the ending note. Hats off Mr.Gautham! Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya is the most beautiful love story I’ve ever witnessed!

Dream Frames

I was pretty cool on that hot day gulping my pepsi at fame cinemas, b’lore. I was gazing at a beautiful young chick who looked like a authentic south indian in her early twenties. She was talking to her friend I suppose who seemed pretty ordinary comparing this beauty’s stature. Man!! She was damn cute with a fair face, I would certainly relate to my-kinda-gal. I couldn’t take my eyes off her . I was continuously admiring that fascinating beauty who had her loose hairs flowing freely in the air. She had a smile which I would love to see for years together. I was completely fed up with the stereotype b’lore women who wore jeans and tshirt of their younger siblings . unlike those dumb ultra modern embodiments of west who were unfortunately put into India’s culture she was wearing a maroon salwar with a black thupatta.

This was the prime factor that attracted me to her of the lot like proton towards the atom’s nucleus. I guess there are multiple modes in which Indian women wear their thupaattas. I like to see girls wearing it in a slightly different manner which I suppose only pretty few women prefer. The mode in which one end of the thupatta hanging in front and the other at the back around their neck, is what I am talking about. That 5feet tall beauty looked fabulous in her dazzling maroon salwar with her black thupatta exactly in the mode where I would like it to be.
I plugged on my ipod’s ear phones to my ears and played the song which I felt would certainly deserve a place on that graceful occasion. Its like giving at least a bit of delight to my ears while my eyes were celebrating its best festival of all time. My ears’ delight started with a mild drizzling sound amidst a man striking slowly the white and black cords to string up such a mild and smooth groove.

“Can u feel her… is your heart speaking to her…
(tabala sound intervenes to break a bit of prevailing mildness in the song and to produce the track’s bass rigidity)
can u feel the love…
Yes…”

a voice started raising its rhetorical questions in my ears which I ‘d love to ask myself at this frozen juncture, in that geeky westernized crowded corner of india where these dumb jean-tshirt loving men and women like only to booze flirt and lavish in pubs & cinema malls. Still I don’t know why I found the place to be in such a scarcity for intimate love. Just like the name garden city is giving way to the name, pub capital , I felt b’lore is gradually losing its core Indian flavors. With the change in people’s attitude towards life, the way by which they carry themselves seemed to me that they might miss lotta life’s close to heart phenomena.
Song continued while I had these dirty thoughts about the people out there. it went like

“engaeyo paartha mayakam… eppotho valntha nerukkum…
Devathai intha salai oram… varuvathu enna mayam mayam…
Kan thiranthival parkum pothu kadavulai indru nambum manathu…”

This song was really mind blowing as everyone would love to relate themselves to this at such a beautiful girl’s sight and tells u the guys’ amazing feel poetically. I witnessed a marvelous fusion of my ears’ delight and eyes’ celebration together with a sensational unexplainable feel that everyone would love to have. The kind of excitement that might rise in you after such a spectacle is unarguably unexplainable. I bet every young guy under sky knows about it and would have felt such a emotional drama at least once in their lifetime. Even more, its always better if some things are left unsaid!

“what the fuck man! Its getting late, comon..” shouted my friend at my face as he pulled me away assisting me to come out of my mind’s wonderful dream frame!

[ This is not based on a true incident. Juz thought of taking a dig at pub city's prevailing culture mixed with appreciation of a beautiful melody ]

De Dissolving Lady

-->
I never hoped for such a dry, dark saturday night, that day. It was pretty dark, devoid of breeze. After a pretty long time i was having my lady in my hands, playing with her using my fingers. Every now and then i was able to see the beauty of my lady in different forms and shapes. but those lasted just for a couple of minutes.
I kissed my lady every now and then, in pursuit of getting the sight of beautiful forms and shapes that she illute into, dissolving in the air. She seemed pretty odd that day, wherein she was getting shorter and shorter for every lovely kiss that i gave her.
On that absolute dark night, I was walking all alone on a pretty narrow street which seemed to be pretty calm with none other than me walking and a dog at the edge of the street, looking at me indifferently. As I moved my head upwards, I could see three street lights, with one pretty bright glowing with the white of heaven. Another one was pale and yellow pretty weird for street light. and the third was almost out of life. I could see the darken stripe over its length envisaging the fact that it will die out soon.
While my head was still upwards, enjoying my lady's dissolving beauty now and then, I just turned it towards my right, where I could see the so called God of men, who hate marriage, was standing tall, dark, handsome but lifeless, showing his torn heart to the world. I even wondered this stoned strong God of bachelors too might have some sorry tale behind this ripped off heart!
I continued my walk and the activity I was involved as earlier. I reached the end of that street where the dog was still sitting gazing at me indifferently. I guess it was frightened by my lady and my looks. To go with the fact the vice-versa also applies.
Then I took a turn to my right to a new street. As I brought my lady towards my lips, I could feel the heat that was rising up unlike before. I was bemused to see my lady's beauty almost ran out in couple of seconds with none other a sponge named ‘kings gold flake’, for my eternal queen resting between my fingers.
Gosh!, I said to myself and threw that piece of sponge, which was covered with a yellow colored paper into the nearby bush. Then I could just see some iota of my exquisite lady’s everlasting beauty, peeping out of that red-fire sponge-tip amidst those dark greeny bushes.
I was continuing my walk. All through my walk I could hear the man of music, singing something in the most painful mood, in a non-understandable language for me, which I have already listened to lot of times before though . also I could listen to the sound of a sad shenoy player, tuning his strings as per the order of man of music. Infact I could understand nothing from that music, except for the fact that music will chill anyone despite any fucken scenario , even when you are in the sinking titanic, and that too from the man of music.
As I was at the end of that new street, I climbed up a pretty small slope to another pretty broad highway. Again I took a turn to my right, as I cant keep myself from closing my eyes, because of that strong light beam from the moving heavy truck. I continued my walk on that highway road’s sandy edge. I was moving all alone missing my lady’s dissolving gorgeous forms and shapes.
I was frustrated by the noise and sounds made by the moving fucken trucks and cars, despite the fact that even a noise which was regularized is making good music these days. This irritating noise made me unable to listen that divine stuff I was listening.
I was walking a bit faster as to get rid of that sounds, which could have been recorded, regularized and programmed to rerecord a Hollywood thriller. And just when this thought of mine diminished in my mind I took another turn to my right walking down on a relatively greater slope than it was in the last turn.
This time it was again a narrow street, whose end carried the block of Kenton , which stood tall and proud. And that was the first time, where I admired the beauty of Kenton-Leisure. It was just in the time, where my hope seemed to be stinking, I remembered those golden words from Tim Robbins in the movie Shawshank Redemption, which goes like this..
“ Hope, is a good thing.
Perhaps the best of things
and no good thing ever dies. ”
Just when I was about to reach that elegant gate of my Kenton hostel my I-pod shuffle played itself the song from the man of music again, but in the most delightful mood. And the song’s words which brought me a small smile goes like this…
“valkaiyil vellavay Take it easy policy….
VANAVIL VALKAIYIL VALIBAM ORU FANTASY…!!”

Is this the day where my breezy fair fairy
In stunning gorgeous outlook,
Just like a holy woman from the heaven
With bunch of roses in her whity hand
Looking straight into my eyes &……………….??

Even If this is not the reason....
then what else....

'1000-TUSKERS' STRENGTH, in Mind & Body

After a pretty long time am greatly impressed by a trailer of a tamil movie. its gautam's yet another promising product called "vaaranam aayiram" which means the strength of thousand elephants!! this Trailer made me to smell the glimpses of Tom Hanks' greatest movie "forrest gump". it excited me even more! as the news was that the outline of this movie was said to be supposedly inspired from hollywood's forrest gump with the Indian flavour.
Harris was awesome in this song too... though it seemed repeated from his own back, rather an inspired/copied peice of music.../wateva the song sounds great!! this story is said to revolve around a man's life through all his phases. Being a fan of surya its a splendid sight for me to catch him up in refreshingly different roles rather styles like a youngster, adolescent, soldier, lover, and a beard guy with a cap. out of them all i loved the old man out look of surya!
tat looked gr8 and portrayted the depth of this movie...
I beleive every man aspires to be in possession of 1000 elephant's strength... both in mind and body! Gautam is clever enough to pick such a beautiful title.
Expecting another nayagan/heyram... but.. lets wait and watch this september...
Hope this flick stands out to be a classic for ages to come...

as of now check out this promising trailer...

Out of Darkness
Away she goes from the shore to the sea. Those waters rushed back and forth every now and then, from the sea to the shore, creating a sizzling melody through the windy airs. Now the time is 30 minutes passed 12 on that dark, human less, cold windy night. Darkness prevailed predominantly on that edge of the sea. That cold coastal Shore seemed to be the place for any lone-lover to hang out. If u imagine eliminating the darkness from the scene it would have been a great natural vista even superior to your illusions.
Suddenly out of the black came a man gasping and panting. His desperation was obvious through his eyes. I believe eyes have got the incredible power to portray a man’s virtues despite scenarios. And those dark eyeballs of that strange Gaucha-like guy were as black as that beach. They were ferocious and valorous. He seemed like a gangster in his early 40’s who doesn’t even have an iota of fear. He was strong, wearing a white vest covered by a black blazer, a black striped trouser and again a black untidy pair of shoes. His face was pale with an uncombed brown hair. He looked very tired with minor wounds and injuries all over but his face was stubborn and showed no sign of fear. Literally speaking I even wonder this lad would have had his existence in a far different world where there is nothing called FEAR. Evidently he is having a pace reducing phase of a breathtaking run as to be more precise for u guys to guess, blood was splashed all through his attire.
The man lolloped through the beach slowly letting the shore waters to kiss his shoes. He looked invincible with a Taurus PT145 – pistol in his right hand, which also swayed because of the pretty loose grip. Gradually his pace reduced which consequently lead his kneels, toes, hands and the gun to feel the beach-sand’s chillness. He fell off on the ground 60% deliberately and the remaining out of weary. His stubborn face started to shrink and got changed for the first time since his advent into the scene. With enormous pain in his mind for the first time in his life he burst out with tears. “Harryyyyyyyy…………….”, a voice yodeled inside his head.
The man was sobbing continuously, very weird for his stature.
The yodel on his head was never seemed to be stopping.
He went back in time to correlate his thoughts with the yodel.
He remembered that deadly incident happened exactly 5 hours before. That’s where his beloved friend Mark Taylor was slaughtered brutally. The slayer being David Carleone’s family, the arch rivals of Durdens’ in the underworld of Spain. The quarrel between the two Don families was imminent any time since last week as the uncouth Carleones’ were envy of Durdens’ and they were on the look out for trouncing them, despite the peace talks to flex their nerves. As this man is the uncrowned sovereign of the entire Madrid city Dons for over a decade. He is the man of our tale too. Ladies and gentlemen,
The name is DURDEN…HE IS HARRY DURDEN.
Durden was weeping continuously as his thoughts
went through his four decades of life. Remember, every man has got his breaking point at some instant of his life and even Durden too is not an exception as now he is into that part.
The rise of this man extends from a little brat thrown out on the Madrid streets to the Spanish underworld GODFATHER. Durden replenished his life’s different phases through his mind. He remembered his early days, left out by his begetters with the days of hunger. His teen phase of getting along with Taylor and his father, the times of filthy-games with Taylor on city streets. Then it’s the rise of marauding mobsters, affair with Taylor’s sister Suzan, who later became his wife, advent of the Durdens’ family and reaching the throne –the power – finally phase of being THE GODFATHER itself. Durden’s life is an untold history.
Through all the phases of Durden’s life Taylor was there for him. Now he is no more. He felt to the core the pain of death.
He realized how heartbreaking it is to bid adieu once for all for someone with great affection and love like Taylor. Mark deserved every drop of tear that the man of our tale shed.
Durden sobbed like a little boy stamping his pistol persistently
on the sand as fast as he can as he had no other way of showing his anger. Durden was totally fed up. He reproached with all the killings and deaths through out his life time. For the first time in life he became conscious of the real value of a soul, as now his soul yearns for his friends’.
Durden realized how precious a life would be for their dear ones. The man of our tale is now maturing himself into a enigmatic phase of his life. As he cruised along the entire mystery that he had revealed so far in his life he found that it lacked the sole purpose. As Durden was stamping his pistol on the ground he deliberately let it free out of his hands’ grip. And away she goes from the shore to the sea washed along with the waters. Durden stopped crying finally as his face changed to his earlier version depicting his power and valor.
The Man of our tale started to walk out of the dark to explore the real GODFATHER in himself. Durden brushed aside his mind’s darkness as the Sun raised revealing the beauty of the world!

Harry Durden had the walk of his life!
The Man of our tale revived his style,
To carry on with his untold history,
Revealing his life’s wonderful mystery.

This tale of our Man, Harry Durden has not got any omega! This might sound obscure. But really its just an alpha for the real Godfather’s history!
And even now those waters never stopped. Away she goes from the shore to the sea.

Photo version of my poem...

scribblin after quite a long time... thought of writin a socialistic story again...
changed ma mind at the last moment to bring out this!!

When someone is in your mind...

When someone is in your mind
When u see a whirling wind--
Like the sun that rises in the east,
She will rise in my life in the dawn;
Unlike the look of a darken beast,
But she’ll be like a born baby’s yawn;
As Rahman’s mesmerizing music,
Her beauty will make you sick;
As a lovely cold breeze,
Just by her look my mind will ease;
Looking back the moments with her,
I would realize heaven was there.
Its not because of her
Beautiful bright eyes of ocean,
Its not for her silky dark hair,
Not cos of her fair and softy skin,
But my breezy fairy
Has something heavenly, impeccable,
That makes me incapable,
To admire even someone palpable.

My soul yearns to me every day,
To be in love with her all day,
To feel her breeze every day;
Like a slow motion frame
Of a Maniratnam’s movie,
My lonely roads without her,
Will make me damn heavy .
My girl wont speak much,
As flowers cant;
My fairy has no words,
But not her heart;
My lady opened up through her eyes,
And only then she was wise,
As the Pablo’s dazzling art .
She dint utter any word,
Not even a word;
She dint gave any clue,
Not even one;
She dint opened her mouth,
But she spoke.

--When u see a whirling wind
When someone is in your mind

Feelin the Bite of Reality...

Me n ma fren were on to our usual drive out to chill around on tat pretty cold evening. Really we felt very exhausted tat friday as both of us were busy with our usual endeavours added with a bit more works on previous weekdays. Thought of hangin around on 1 of our usual roamin spot. Me reached trichy jus tat day’s sunny hot aft noon frm ma coll in karaikudi. We both started frm my fren’s house on his bike.
I had the drive wit my fren in the back chatting thro mobile wit his girl fren…oops sorry a fren who s a gal. after 10 minutes we reached the spot tat is nothing but an old bridge built across the river cauvery shortly called as CB. Parked the bike near the platform n started to walk.He was really excited as he had is date tat day morning wit his fren-ho-s-a-gal. He was sharing with me his lovly tym n his chatin with tat gal. he shared almost evry thin with me I suppose n as usual v had lotsa fun. And I realized how tru is Einstein’s perspective!!! As he said once in a interview regardin thory of relativity ,
” even a minute before a hot stove wud b lik years.. but sittin b4 a gal even a day wud b lik a minute… n tats relativity”!! wow!! Wat a genius he is to predict my fren’s(almost al young men I suppose) feeling even b4 my fren was born…J I admire tis absent minded professor for all his deeds n comedies.
I feel som 4 things r enough to pass ur tym wit gr8 fun. A pleasant evening, pretty cool breeze, a nice long walk way wit som cuties, and a sharing chat wit the fren by ur side!!!... n CB really had al the 4 to hit the top spot of my fun tym tat day. v both almost crossed the other side as he stopped the chat and started to show me his pics tat he had taken thro his mobile. Hmm..the pics seemed pretty cool. We were now walkin on the middle of the walk way platform. We had a halt ther and leaned ourselves on tat old wall built on the bridge’s sides. Both had some scilence and felt the noisy horns blowin from the crossin cars n buses which created a rhythm on tat old bridge, even gud enough for makin our bodies to feel tat.
Suddenly v both tunred to our left wher a shoutin came from,” sundal…. Sundal….” . its nothing but a little boy was nearing on us wit big stainless stell bucket in his hand full of sundal packets wrapped in paper. He was black, small n short, as the bucket in his hand was tall enough to reach his hip. He was wearin a half slack shirt n a three fourth trousers with lotsa stichings n had no slippers. In short he reminded me of a typical poor south Indian boy from the slums.
He came near us n said, “ annay sundal vangika nay… inaiku notu vanganum nay…
Illaena nalaiki miss adipanga nay…”wit a pretty low tone.(which means, brother pls buy a snck pack cos I need to buy a note for ma class else ma teacher vil screw me tomorrow..) .
At tat moment I was moved in heart n had no words… my thoughts was jus wavering around many stuffs. They were,
why the heck god created thes sorta discrimination between men n tat a poor little child who seems to b a main bread winner of his his damn big family…
wat the hell the boy’s begoters’ were doin leavin tis boy wit tis damn business sparin him not even a gud early edu…
I had my thinkings more centerin on god’s damn discrimination even for a little child who has not even seen some 8 years of world… I dunno why god left even little children in adversity whom he loved the most!!!
All thes were revolvin around ma mind for a moment. n Now I jus brushed aside ma thoughts and had a look at tat boy, still searchin for som words to open up ma mouth.
My fren too was yet to utter ny word n looked at me. I gathered al the reasons n meanings of his face at tat instant as all best frens wud do. He turned to the boy n asked him,
“ wats ur name..?wat ru studying?…”
“muthalagan…6th std in gov boys high sec school…” wit his voice raisin a bit as his face, added wit a hungry tone.
“hmm… oh.. okay.. why r u into tis… wat abt ur parents?…” askd ma fren.
“my father fell down from the false pillar on which he was workin two months ago n got his leg broken n he was admitted in gov hospital… and mother too was sick but she was onto her work in som houses…So I need to sell all thes snacks out here to earn our daily bread…” the boy shared with pain, pausing at times in the middle wit typical cute little boy’s words in tamil.
Me n ma fren had a look again each other, thro which v conveyed our meanings.
A short pause b4 ma fren asked his next question to him… “do u hav any siblings??”
“…hmm..s I hav a one elder brother studying 10 th n a elder sister who stopped her studies…. She was very weak in her studies n so my mama stopped her from goin to school…” he replied again wit a childish slum tamil slang.
“oh… then… how well do u study..??” ma fren asked..
“hmm.. very well… I got 5th rank in halfyearly…” he said wit pride.
“Oh… tats gr8 da…”… he replied n turned to me n askd “machi … enna pannlam??...”(which means…”hey buddy…wat can v do??!!..” ). He dint wait for ma reply n said to tat boy…”hey I tell u a mobile number u note it down n call me tis nov15th… ok”..
As he said he turned to right and got a pen frm a loiterer and wrote his mobile num on a small thrown away snack wrapper and gave it to the boy sayin….
“ u hav to call me on nov 15th …ok?? Don’t forget !!
n study well… so then wat u wanna becom..?”
“ I want to b a doctor..” the boy replied, as he folded tat paper n kept on his pocket, wit a smile.
Then my fren explained him the difficulties of a poor little slum boy to bcom a doctor with no strong medical back grounds. He askd him to throw away this idea wanted to dream of bcomin a engineer.
(I dunno y evry little Indian child dreams to bcom a doctor durin their primary schoolin… n I bet 8 out of ten child wil reply to bcom a doctor wen askd abt their aim).
He xplained the difficulties of a medical student n tat too a poor faces in today’s scenario to tat boy n also got his residence address. The boy was curious to knw abt wat he gonna do to him on nov15th. My fren replied jus to call him on nov 15 th n see wat happens. The little boy signed off shoutin again sundal…sundal…
My fren then turned to me and said.
“ its worth nothing to giv him som money now out of pity da.. we need to try something else on a bigger scale.”
We had a short pause n continued to walk. As we r about to reach the bike I said
“ dey machi… its really painful to see thes two extremes in life…I really dunno y the heck god has allowed such hardships in a tiny little heart da…one side guys were havin fun n njoyin their lif lavishin money lik nythin n here tis poor chap hasn’t even got some money to spare for his class notebook… its really annoyin to feel the bite of reality da….
Reality sux to the core!!! Temporary solutions r not gonna meet the needs of these lakhs of poor under preveiledged children of our country right now da… v young men hav to think abt tis n come out wit a solution…”, I finished in tamil as we sat on the bike n went off with a refreshin spark in our minds showin off the shine of Patriotism.
